Marius Olsen is a Faroese printmaker who lives and works both in The Faroe Islands and in Finland.

He masters all traditional printmaking techniques. Yet last years he has been concentrating in working with stone lithography. He works in his own studio in Orivesi, Finland, and occasionally as a guest artist in Steinprent, Tórshavn,The Faroe Islands.

Marius Olsen invites the viewer to look at his pictures - and reality - with open eyes and a present mind.

In his deep presentations of nature and human experience he explores the core of existence. A lonely tree or a lonely human, the untamed nature in a form of a mountain, the sky, the moon, or the ocean. Occasional symbolic forms, like a numbers and other measurements, point out the difference between looking at the world as signs - or openly, as what it is.

The suchness of things comes forth and leaves little space for words. The picture has it´s own language that can be understood by looking. You can stop searching for meanings and receive what is to be received through experience.
